Dresden

Highlights of Dresden

The Royal Palace, the “Zwinger”, the Semper Opera House, Elbe castles and many more marvelous sights are part of this exceptional tour. Many important cultural institutions are situated along the Old City-side of the Elbe banks, beginning with the Old Masters Picture Gallery and on to the „Green Vault”, the treasure chamber of Saxon electors and kings of the past.

The Church of Our Lady (Frauenkirche)

This tour begins with one of the most famous and symbolic churches in the world. You will come to know the dramatic history of this church and will follow the routes of the building material – the sand-stone – to the mountains of the Saxon Switzerland National Park. There the fortress Königstein will be visited – the highest stronghold complex in Europe, located right on top of a sand-stone-table-mount.

White Gold & Saxon Wine Street

The tour follows the river Elbe to the medieval town of Meissen. We will visit Germany’s first castle building high above the Old City and learn to produce porcelain in the show manufactory of the famous Meissen Porcelain Manufactory, the oldest in Europe.

The tour continues for a photo-stop to picturesque royal Moritzburg Palace, located in the Saxon Forests. From there we will take a ride with the historic steam train to the vineyards of the Saxon wine street. The day ends with wine tasting and local dinner in one of the numerous wine estates or specialty restaurants.
